400 Summer Street is a 860,000 square-foot, 18-story lab/office building.
The project includes two levels of retail and 217,000 square feet of a three-level, 328-space below-grade parking garage. The building, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, aesthetically connects Fort Point’s industrial style with the newly-developing South Boston Seaport. As part of the project, a new set of publicly accessible stairs will be built, providing a pedestrian connection from Summer Street down to Congress Street.
The building spans over East Service Road and Mass Haul Road, filling a void along Summer Street. Given its location, 400 Summer Street was one of the first projects to install structures over a MassDOT roadway in nearly 40 years.
