Suffolk was selected to perform construction management at-risk services for the Bradley International Airport Vertical Circulation Improvement project.
The project encompasses two large-scale building additions at the east and west ends of BDL Terminal A. The total project represents approximately 30,000 square feet of new and refurbished spaces. Each addition will contain two new elevators and escalators in order to improve the flow of passengers from each of the two concourses, reducing passenger congestion and improving the airport experience at BDL.
A new bridge connecting the terminal to the adjacent hotel will also be constructed. The project scope also includes modifications to the existing fire protection, electrical, lighting, security systems, and the installation of new air-handling units to support future additions. Construction will also include a new underground communications duct bank and coordination with various telecommunications vendors to relocate and reinstall existing
communication lines.
The project must be constructed while keeping the terminal open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year providing unique challenges to the construction teams.
