The Parcel 12 Office Tower involves the meticulous construction of a 21-story office tower above a two-story retail podium on a tight urban site, adjacent to the public plaza located over the Massachusetts Turnpike.
The office tower, along with the parcel’s adjoining citizenM hotel that Suffolk is also building, sits atop a deck that spans across the eight-lane Massachusetts Turnpike and two MBTA / Amtrak rail lines. The project involves relocating an on-ramp to the Massachusetts Turnpike further west on Newbury Street.
Additionally, the entire site itself is located at a major intersection for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which presents logistical challenges for construction vehicles and delivery trucks that need to access the site.
The entire Parcel 12 knits together the Back Bay, Fenway, and South End neighborhoods of Boston. Moreover, the ground floor retail space activates the streetscape, therefore elevating the entire pedestrian experience.
