South Shore University Hospital Pavilion Core & Shell

Bay Shore, NY

    Project Overview

Suffolk is providing construction management services for the first phase of this new six-story ground-up inpatient bed tower.

This project is continuing the growth of Northwell Health’s flagship hospital. Rated as one of the nation’s 50 best hospitals for heart surgery, Northwell is continuing to invest in providing the highest quality of care to the Long Island Community. The Suffolk team is invested, local, and committed to integrating this new facility into the South Shore University Hospital.

The scope for the first phase of this project includes abatement and demolition, site utilities, and full core and shell. Core and shell construction includes foundations, steel superstructure, facade, back of house spaces, vertical transportation, fire protection, main mechanical, electrical, plumbing equipment, and distribution.

While the building is new, we are operating on an active campus. Our planning ensures no interruption to hospital operations. One key component of our approach is robust BIM software coordination. BIM helps us discover potential risks virtually and ensure coordination while in the field.
