The design of the Wells Fargo Center had to meet several challenges, including the creation of over 740,000 square feet of LEED Certified office environment for over 10,000 people.
This 1,553,200 square-foot, 47-story office building in downtown Miami includes a ballroom, meeting space, retail shops, a restaurant, 1,400-car garage and links to a 42-story Marriott Hotel.
The project also needed to accommodate over 1,100 vehicles on 13 floors of structured parking. Six-inch, column-free tenant floors begin above the parking podium, creating an aesthetically seamless, soaring glass tower that reaches 670 feet into the sky.
Additional challenges arose when creating the glass and metallic skin of the building to withstand the rigorous hurricane codes of Dade County. The sleek, clean structure that resulted, however, provides a contemporary gateway to downtown Miami from the West and South.
