Transforming a historic former Navy building

Joan and Irwin Jacobs Performing Arts Center

Suffolk transformed a historic former Navy building at Liberty Station into a world-class performing arts venue in San Diego. The 32,000-square-foot project features two state-of-the-art theater spaces. The larger venue offers seating for 289 guests, while the smaller, a 150-seat flexible studio, includes rehearsal and orchestra areas. The project also encompasses an open-air lobby, two sophisticated bars, three landscaped patios, an art gallery showcasing local artists, and ample parking.

A group of people sit and converse on outdoor sofas under string lights at night; colorful posters hang on a wall behind them, and lush greenery borders the patio area.
