Redefining RSW’s landscape

Southwest Florida International Airport RSW - Terminal E

The project scope included a new ticketing lobby, Bag Claim Area, and a new baggage handling system, including a CBIS (Checked Baggage Inspection System) and CBRA (Checked Baggage Reconciliation Area). Extending from this new terminal is the addition of Concourse E, providing 14 fully operational gates and the infrastructure to support 19 gates in the future. Concourse E features a new TSA checkpoint, expanded retail and concessions, airside improvements and chiller plant building upgrades. All gates have an aircraft fuel distribution system, and the project included major rework of taxiways surrounding the new concourse. In order to build the terminal extension, two existing gates had to be removed from Terminal D and the project included relocation of these two gates to the end of Terminal D as an enabling project. Outside of the airport, new roadways and pedestrian bridges were built to enhance the passenger experience for arrivals and departures. Suffolk’s team prioritized uninterrupted operations, as RSW remained active through the duration of the project.
