Student housing & dining transformation

UMass Dartmouth P3 Student Housing & Dining

Suffolk was selected to deliver the new UMass Dartmouth P3 Student Housing & Dining Facility, a public-private partnership between the University of Massachusetts and Greystar Development. The 1,220-bed, 250,000-square-foot complex replaces four outdated residence halls with two modern, five-story buildings featuring classrooms, study lounges, maker space, music practice rooms, demonstration kitchens, and computer learning commons. Two faculty-in-residence apartments provide on-site mentorship, while new landscaping and a hardscape courtyard enhance the campus environment.

A modern, multi-story building named Balsam features large glass windows, geometric shapes, and colorful accent panels, illuminated at dusk. The front lawn is landscaped with a small patio and outdoor seating.

A new campus dining experience

UMass Dartmouth P3 Student Housing & Dining

Integrated into the housing complex, a 40,000-square-foot dining commons serves as a central social hub. With seating for 800 and the capacity to serve more than 3,000 students daily, the facility introduces a marketplace-style layout and an open flat-top grill that invites students to watch meals being prepared. The steel-framed structure, finished with metal panels and curtainwall façade, expands dining options and elevates the student experience.
