Increasing the facility’s computing power

Verizon Media Group Project Seahawk

This fit-out increased the facility’s computing power by an additional 1.8 MW, all while maintaining the current operations and IT workloads. Essential upgrades were also made to the Network Room in order to maintain operations with the additional capacity. During the course of work, electrical shutdowns were executed on a daily basis without disruption to the IT load. Suffolk’s careful planning and development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs) were absolutely essential to the success of this project. This is the first major upgrade to be completed at Verizon’s original and largest campus in over five years. The enhanced space supports popular applications such as Tumblr, Yahoo News, Yahoo Sports, and Yahoo Finance.

A row of large, grey industrial electrical panels with various buttons, switches, warning labels, and vents is installed along a concrete wall in a clean, modern utility room with a concrete floor.
